Really happy that people can notice my bump and started giving up seats to me at MRT

However I do feel awkward at time 😅 because my bump is not considered big ( week 19) and not sure how to react when people actually give up seats to me, quite shy 😅 But I am really happy when people can see my bump😊

Once I was taking MRT home from east side. A 50-60yo man (dragging his leg - prolly his leg wasn’t good) came into the train and looked at both priority seats (a lady & I were both sitting), he rushed to the lady and asked her to give up seat to him. She was shocked/ paused for a while as she didn’t know how to react but few seconds later she gave up her seat to him. She then told him that she was sitting there bcos she is pregnant. I guess the man didn’t come to me as my belly is much bigger. The lady was prolly 3-4 months pregnant so her belly isn’t obvious. And nobody in the train gave up seats to her (those who were sitting at non-priority seats). I then kept an eye to see who alighted and quickly pointed to her to sit down. Ya agree that it’s hard for those who are still in 1st /2nd trimesters. Sometimes nobody would give up seat even though my belly is obvious. I m not saying that people must give up seats yo pregnant lady or elderly but it’s nice to have a seat in a crowded train.

Safety issue also. After reading about stampedes and qatar and everything. I get worried thinking it can happen anytime :(

My firstborn baby bump was really not visible, and because Im tall and slim so i do somehow look like I’m having tummy fats.. I don’t often get a seat even when i was 9 months pregnant with my first baby and even many times that elderly people just knocked on me (maybe cos I was walking even slower than them and they felt that I should give way to them).. Until once a helper saw and scolded that one elderly and told her “she’s pregnant!!” I personally feels that rather to wait for any one to give up their seat or even to give way not to hit on you nowadays, it better for us to take e first step

”ask for e seat don’t be shy + be more environment awareness”.. 😊

on the contrary, kind souls have been offering seats to me on the MRT. mostly the younger ones. As my bump is quite small, I once met an uncle asking me to get up from the reserved seat :( cos he didn't notice my bump. and definitely didn't meet kind souls on buses. I think it's more dangerous for preggers to be standing in the bus than mrt. I had 2 encounters of ppl falling on me, and thank god my husband was there to support me. agreeing with one of the comments here, I try not to feel self entitled as ppl paid fares too and while they are not pregnant or elderly, they may also need the seats.

Oh I kinda opposite... I think because I'm carrying twins so I'm super big from 2nd trimester onwards. Now 28 weeks already look like gonna pop anytime so majority of time got people give up seats. Only few times when I was smaller that people didn't and there was once I sat in the priority seat, the old man came and told me... this seat for old people. Even though there were seats beside me and Infront of me. Anyway mummies, if you really need a seat due to aching back or swollen feet, can always ask nicely. I did before and usually people are nice enough to stand up.

I'm 33 weeks preggo and no one bothers giving seats to me đŸ€ŁđŸ€Ł maybe cause they see that we're young so we have the 'energy' to just stand. and whenever I seat at priority seats , elderly at my place always give me that one stare /look like I did something wrong hahahha! makes me feel like I'm at fault for being pregnant. it happens all the time especially when going out with my 2 year old. thus , I'd take taxi if really need to travel or wait till hubby has his day off then we go out. đŸ„Č

ughhhh i feel you. be it mrt or bus, one will not give me seats even at 30 weeks plus and heavily pregnant. got home with swollen feet and aching back 😔

you’re lucky. i’m 23 weeks pregnant and my belly is super obvious because i’m petite. but people miraculously fall asleep or pretend they didn’t see me. usually it’s also the elderly who offer their seats to me. recently read an article saying we shouldn’t feel entitled as we’re all paying the same fare.. so why should we have ‘extra privilege’. just gonna have to teach my kids to be better people 😅

I feel some of these articles are negative towards us pregnant ladies. If the train is not overcrowded on peak hour its fine! But sometimes the ladies in their first tri feel terrible and just need a seat. I did read that there are problems ppl have that arent visible and some ppl just stand the whole day at work and need a break! But for us its dangerous to stand if its very crowded in the train. Two lives at danger instead of one. Even getting a leaning spot is a priviledge now!

Wow ur lucky no one gives up seats for me. In fact young kids fight me for them and rush to priority and i cant walk fast as everything hurts sometimes. And there was one incident i was going to sit and a young man just sat right below me when i was bending to sit..

always travel with public transport with my 18months boy when i wasđŸ€°30+ weeks tummy is obvious most of the time no one is bother offer seat, even now with 2 young kids most people won't let us use the lift 1st we ever wait for x3 times to enter the lift

Please lor, even with 35 weeks and super duper huge belly, people these days are so selfish refuse to give up seat ( I realise that the people who are nice enough to give up are the elderly which defeats the purpose thou)

Im 25 weeks now and so far i took mrt no one give up seats when my bump is getting obvious. Most of them see but pretend didnt see. And yes it was a elderly who wanted to give me her seat at a crowded bus. đŸ„ș

Guess I lucky or go off peak time 90% of time I get a seat either after 1- 2 stop when ppl stop playing hp n look up . . guess when u really need a seat u can also ask for one , safer also if unwell or tummy is too big when any jerking will throw u off balance . . guess my is pretty obvious
